Death’s Door

Death’s Door

A Horror Feature Film

About Death’s Door:

On Christmas Eve, two Paramedics answer a routine call from a rich hermit and discover the invisible thing he’s been calling about for years has finally come for him — and anyone who gets in its way.

DEATH’S DOOR is a contained supernatural horror film from award-winning director Ryan Godoy and Blacklist-recognized writer David Draper.

Shot in a single location with a cast of four, DEATH’S DOOR is engineered to deliver maximum cinematic dread on a disciplined budget.

Script is available upon request.

THE TEAM

DIRECTOR

Ryan Godoy is an award-winning filmmaker whose work has been featured on Bloody Disgusting and Film Shortage, collectively garnering over a million views. His latest short film, The Agreement at Clivemore, is currently on the international festival circuit — with submissions to Tribeca, Fantasia International, Venice Shorts, HollyShorts, Fantastic Fest, and more.

DEATH’S DOOR is his feature debut.

WRITER

David Draper writes high-concept horror and thrillers with a proven industry track record. His feature screenplay Voracious was trending on The Black List in 2022/23 — the film industry’s most authoritative platform for unproduced screenplays. His work has been performed onstage at The Broadwater Theatre and developed into an audio drama in the UK.

The Agreement at Clivemore, the short film adaptation of his work, is currently making its festival run alongside development of the feature.

“A sophisticated and frightening horror film with clear commercial potential”

THE INVESTMENT

In early 2027, we will produce DEATH’S DOOR and we are seeking $125,000 USD in equity investments for the film.

  • EQUITY RAISE: $125,000 USD
  • MINIMUM INVESTMENT: $5,000
  • INVESTOR CREDITS: ASSOCIATE PRODUCER / EXECUTIVE PRODUCER / CO-PRODUCER / PRODUCED BY

Most independent horror films at this level cost at least $1M. We’ve engineered DEATH’S DOOR to deliver a premium genre experience on a disciplined budget — because low budget doesn’t mean low quality, and the numbers prove it.

Full Private Placement Memorandum available upon request.

ROYALTIES & RECOUPMENT

Recoupment:

  • Gross revenues first cover distributor fees, sales agent commissions, and distribution expenses
  • Investors then receive 110% of their investment back before producers see a dollar
  • Full raise of $125,000 = $137,500 returned to investors at recoupment

Profit Participation:

  • After recoupment: 50% investors / 50% producers
  • Once investors hit 125% total return: shifts to 40% investors / 60% producers

THE INVESTMENT

Projected Returns by Investment

Based on PPM projections. Assumes ~30% distribution fee. Illustrative only — not a guarantee of performance.

Investment Credit Film Sells for $250K Film Sells for $500K
$5,000 – $9,999 Associate Producer ~$8,000 – $9,000 ~$15,000
$10,000 – $24,999 Executive Producer ~$16,000 – $18,000 ~$30,000
$25,000 – $49,999 Co-Producer ~$40,000 – $45,000 ~$75,000
$50,000 – $125,000+ Produced By ~$80,000 – $225,000 ~$150,000 – $375,000

ROI Summary

Sale Price Approximate Investor ROI
$250,000 1.6x – 1.8x
$500,000 ~3x

The math works because the budget is low. A contained horror film doesn't need a blockbuster deal to return your money.

SALES STRATEGY

Death’s Door will pursue distribution through a proven independent genre pipeline:

Festival Premieres: A strong festival run builds market awareness, press coverage, and distributor interest before any deal is made. Genre festivals are active acquisition markets — and the team behind this film is already on the circuit.

Sales Agent Representation: We will seek representation by a sales agent specializing in independent genre films to negotiate domestic and international deals.

Distribution Channels: Revenue will be pursued across multiple windows: domestic licensing, international territory sales, streaming platform licensing (SVOD/AVOD), cable and television, airline licensing, and remake/ancillary rights.

The model works because the bar is low. At a $125,000 production budget, this film does not need a blockbuster deal to return investor capital. It needs a solid genre distribution agreement — the kind that independent horror attracts routinely.

“A story with startling visuals and smothering dread.”

WHY HORROR IS THE SAFEST GENRE INVESTMENT

Horror is the only film genre where a $15,000 budget can gross $2,000,000.

Unlike drama, comedy, or action — horror does not depend on star casting, expensive locations, or massive marketing budgets to find its audience. Strong concept, atmosphere, and execution drive performance. The audience is loyal, global, and always hungry.

Horror consistently outperforms every other genre relative to budget.

Comparable Horror Films

Film Budget Gross
Skinamarink (2022) ~$15K $2M+
The Outwaters (2022) ~$15K $1.7M
Terrifier 2 (2022) ~$250K $15M
Talk to Me (2022) ~$4.5M $92M
Barbarian (2022) ~$4.5M $45M

Beyond theatrical, horror content performs consistently on streaming platforms, cable networks, and in international markets — where distributors actively seek original genre programming year-round.

Contained horror — one location, small cast, practical effects — is the most efficient version of the model. It’s what Death’s Door was designed to be.

Low budget doesn’t mean low quality. It means low risk.
