About the Film

A Christmas ghost story, told as horror.

Death’s Door is a contained supernatural horror film centered on a young paramedic and her jaded, veteran partner, who respond to a routine Christmas Eve call that turns into a fight to survive the night.

Directed by Ryan Godoy and written by Black List-recommended screenwriter David Draper, the film is in pre-production for an early 2027 shoot. Rod Blackhurst and Noah Lang of Witchcraft Motion Picture Company are executive producing, in partnership with Viceroy Films.

James Kniest

An accomplished cinematographer whose credits include several acclaimed horror and genre projects. Kniest has worked extensively with filmmaker Mike Flanagan, serving as Director of Photography on projects including Hush, The Haunting of Bly Manor, Midnight Mass, and The Midnight Club. His additional credits include Annabelle and American Horror Story. With a deep understanding of atmosphere, suspense, and visual storytelling, Kniest brings significant genre experience to Death’s Door.

Brandon Waites is a filmmaker and Festival Director of HorrOrigins Film Festival and Legendary Fest. As a producer, his credits include the independent horror feature Followed, Greywood’s Plot, and the short film REM, starring Bonnie Aarons (The Nun franchise), Emma Raimi (Drag Me to Hell), Elizabeth Yu (Avatar: The Last Airbender), and creator Kelsi Davies. Through W8S Entertainment, Waites is currently producing a feature film alongside producers of the upcoming David Leitch action-comedy Jason Statham Stole My Bike, among other projects currently in development and being kept under wraps.
